I Love Your Blog!

Today I opened the computer and the first thing I usually do is check my Google Reader. I was sitting in front of the computer with a cup of coffee on my hand and the first feed I checked was this one. You can imagine how happy I was! This totally made my day!

I absolutely love to read Holly's blog! She is funny and witty, always with anecdotes to share. And when she is being serious I always find myself nodding in agreement. So, really, it is an honour to receive this from you!

Here are the directions for this award:

1) Add the logo of the award to your blog
2) Add a link to the person who awarded it to you
3) Nominate at least 7 other blogs
4) Add links to those blogs on your blog
5) Leave a message for your nominees on their blogs!

Now as to my nominations, those blogs I also love to read and that haven't received an award yet:

Alex from Le Canapé
She is a great friend, someone I feel like I know even though we never actually met. We did talk on the phone though even if I thought she was someone else at first! My bad!!! :-(

Ana from Cosy World
Another great friend, we first met online somewhere and since then we've been talking every day. I remember the first time I met her in person and my first thought was: wow she's tall! :-)

Catarina from Cenoura do Lado
Catarina is a sweetie really, she shares titbits of her life on the blog and is a generous person always ready to lend a few books and chat about them!

Rosario from Rosario's Reading Journal
Rosario hasn't been online much lately but I'm sure she'll come back soon with more of her wonderful book reviews.

Leya from Wandeca Reads
I found a lot of my favourite cosy mysteries through her blog and a couple new authors too!

Wendy from The Misadventures of Super Librarian
I've been reading Wendy's blog for a long time now. I really enjoy her reviews and her comments on life and being a librarian. She has the dream job of every book lover.

Claudia from Estrelas ao Vento
Because she has such humorous comments about life and work. I always leave her blog with a smile on my face!

I hope I put a smile on your face too!

What Pasta Dish Are You?

You Are Fettuccine Alfredo

Compared to most people, you have rich and decadent tastes.

If you can afford something, you'll go ahead and indulge yourself.

You are a true foodie. No food is off the table for you.

You're the type most likely to appreciate every aspect of a five star meal.

Nham nham I loooove pasta!!! But I had never heard of a fettucine Alfredo, off to find the recipe!

What Olympic Sport Are You?

You Are Kayaking

You have a competitive spirit, but you don't like to compete alone.

You do well in a partnership, where you can feed off the other person's energy.

If you have the right partner, nothing can stop you. Your energy is infinite!

Since the Olympics are on every day on TV I thought this test was appropriate. I have no idea why kayaking should be my sport. I think I'm more a horse back riding or a gymnastics kind of girl! :-)

The Jane Austen Heroine Test

Your result for The Jane Austen heroine Test...

Elinor Dashwood

You're always aware of social obligations and have more than your fair share of sense. You would never say something out of anger or in poor taste. This may lead some (like, perhaps, your saucy little sister) to accuse you of being cold. Nothing could be further from the truth! It's just that you don't believe in making a scene. Respectable gentlemen everywhere swoon for you (though you'd never admit it). But you only have eyes for one. He is lucky to have you.

Ideal matches: Edward Ferrars, Mr. Knightley, Captain Wentworth

Guaranteed heartbreak: John Willoughby, John Thorpe

Not worthy of your affections: Frank Churchill, Captain Benwick

Which Drake Sister Are You?

I first saw this at the Book Binge and being a Drake Sisters fan myself I couldn't resist doing it too!

You are like Sarah Drake, a born leader and the eldest of your family. If there is a crisis people come to you. You have a quick mind and are able to solve extremely difficult problems. You are known for your hacking talents and no computer is safe from you. You are very reliable and considered “the rock” of your family. You are athletic and love to be outdoors. You have a penchant for breaking and entering; locked doors pique your curiosity. Your favorite pastime is curling up with a book by the fire and having a cup of tea. Brainiacs are for you, especially ones who can keep a secret.

What's On Your Nightstand?

Just saw this over at Marg's blog, who got it from 5 Minutes For Books and I thought it was a fun idea to do a monthly post!

The guidelines were:

1 - Take a picture or simply give a list of the stack of books that you are in the process of reading or planning to read (it might be on your nightstand, on a bookshelf, or like me, under your bed).

2 - Give short reviews of the book or books that you read that month.

3 - Tell about what you are reading and why. I love to read the backstory on books. Did someone give it to you? Are you trying out a new genre at the recommendation of a friend (or website)? Did you stumble across a new author in a used bookstore?

4 - Fill us in on your reading habits. When are you reading these books? Is one reserved for bedtime reading? Does one stay in your car to be read while you are waiting? Do you read just one book at a time?

I decided to start with a photo. I picked these because I thought I was going to read them soon but the truth it that they've been here a while. There's always some loaned book or some bookring that I need to hurry with and these just end up staying here. Of course I'll have to change that if I want to have a different photo to show next month! ;-)

Anyone else wants to show theirs? If so leave me a comment so I can go see them!

What's Your Reading Personality?

I've seen this going around in the blogosphere and decided to do it too!

Your Personality: All-Rounder!

Your responses showed you fitting equally into all four reading personalities:

Involved Reader: You don't just love to read books, you love to read about books. For you, half the fun of reading is the thrill of the chase - discovering new books and authors, and discussing your finds with others.
Exacting Reader: You love books but you rarely have as much time to read as you'd like - so you're very particular about the books you choose.
Serial Reader: Once you discover a favorite writer you tend to stick with him/her through thick and thin.
Eclectic Reader: You read for entertainment but also to expand your mind. You're open to new ideas and new writers, and are not wedded to a particular genre or limited range of authors.

Are You a Winter Person or a Summer Person?

You Are a Winter Person

You are calm, serious, and focused.

You're the type of person who appreciates the quiet and calm.

Winter is the perfect time for you to get cozy and work on a hobby.

Summer is a bit too hectic for you. You like the dead of winter... preferably with a roaring fire inside.

I knew that!!

What Your Feet Say About You

What Your Feet Say About You:

You are pretty average in your expressiveness. You can express yourself well, but you don't always want to.

You are a somewhat passionate person. A few things get you very fired up, but you're usually pretty laid back.

You are an assertive person at times. You'll pull out all the stops to get what you want, if it's worth it.

You take a while to fall in love, but once you do, you stay pretty attached to your partner.

You are not afraid of anything. You are brave and courageous, even when most people would be terrified.

You are very practical and down to earth. You're more concerned with action than thoughts.

You are a fairly hard worker, but you are also a little spoiled. You like indulge yourself every now and then.

You are easily influenced by other people. You're quite impressionable, so you should only be around people who are a good influence.

I was quite astonished by these results, so many things learned just by describing your feet...

What Kind of Romance Heroine Are You?

The Regency Romance Quiz: What kind of Romance Heroine are you?

My dear girl, you are clearly On the Shelf. You are unmarried and in your mid-twenties. You are intelligent and sensible, but quiet, and consider yourself plain. You have had several Seasons, but never received an offer, or perhaps you refused the offers you received. The reason for this is that you have always loved the man you danced with shortly after you came out at 18. He, of course, never returned your affections, or even knew about them, and is probably courting your sister. Nevertheless, he always seems to like you, and treats you much as he treats his sisters. Your love for him is immediately evident to everyone else, especially his sister, aunt or mother, who think you are the best possible wife for him. This attitude may prove either helpful or difficult, depending on how much the author likes you. When an accident befalls, your calm practicality and ability to stitch up wounds impresses him, and all of a sudden he finds himself noticing the way your smile transforms your face, lighting your eyes and making you quietly beautiful. His interest and appreciation will quickly turn to love, but he will have to spend the rest of the novel trying to convince you that his affection is genuine and not a result of pity.

What Jane Austen Gentleman Is For You?

What Jane Austen gentleman is for you?

Mr. Ferrars. Sense and Sensibility's Edward Ferrars is soft spoken, but he is firm in his decisions and will always make good on his promises, even if he's changed his mind. His good nature might lead him into the wrong situations sometimes, but he's not as naive as you might think.

The Keys To Your Life

The Keys to Your Life

Anything good in your life comes from your ability to play and be free.

The best way for you to solve a problem is to let go of it.

Anything bad in your life comes from sinking to the level of those around you.

Remember to lift people up, and refuse to participate in anything petty.

What Your City Walk Means?

I actually took this test because I'm always saying I should walk more and I never do... in the end the test is not about walking but about the personality...

What Your City Walk Means

You are thoughtful and contemplative. You enjoy spending time alone with your thoughts.

You are quite introverted and maybe even a little shy. You prefer to interact one on one with people.

Money is fairly important to you. You aren't super greedy, but you enjoy spending money on yourself.

You tend to be organized, logical, and methodical. You're so efficient, people often wonder how you get so much done.

The only thing I question is point 3, it seems I spend a lot more money in books that in me! :-)

What Kind of Cookie Are You?

You Are a Jam Cookie

On the outside, you project a straight-laced, innocent vibe.

But on the inside, you're complex, exotic, and full of flavor.

I love cookies! I just wish they weren't such a diet killer! To make matters worse I'm reading a book which includes cookie recipes...

Six Unimportant Things About Me

Marg has tagged me for a new meme:

The rules are:

1. Link back to the person who tagged you.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. Share six unimportant things about yourself.
4. Tag six random people at the end of your blog entry.
5. Let the tagged people know by leaving a comment on their blogs.

** I'm addicted to Bookmooch and Bookdepository as main book suppliers.

** I hate doing household chores like cleaning or ironing but I love to organise my office and library.

** I love to hand sew.

** I don't like to drive but I do it everyday.

** I like to travel but I'm really lazy about organising things. I usually start early and only end up booking everything on the eve of the travel.

** I frequentely have insomnia when I'm worried or annoyed with something and I get up in the middle of the night to read and write emails.

...and now I'm tagging my usual victims: A. and A. and also Fantasma, Leya, Joanna and everyone else who wants to do it...
