Santa Baby - Anthology

I got this book because of Jennifer Crusie's story and I'll readily admit I only skimmed the other two specially after I discovered I had read them before.

JENNIFER CRUSIE
Mayhem ensues under the mistletoe as a determined shopper grabs the very last hot toy action figure off the shelf, only to find herself plunged into the middle of a real-life spy game—in the arms of a sexy secret agent. . .

LORI FOSTER
Two dedicated coworkers with a lot of secrets (and fantasies!) between them must plan a Christmas party side by side—and discover a love worth celebrating—in this steamy office romance.

CARLY PHILLIPS
A “mistletoe moment” begins when a no-nonsense lawyer intent on seducing her boss meets his twin instead—after giving him a scintillating kiss that leaves him begging for more. . .

I was very disappointed in Crusie's story which was called HOT TOY. I found the plot too confusing and the fact that it revolved about kid's toys (hence the title) instead of making it interesting just bored me. I do like to have substance in my novellas but this one had too much information and it seems it wanted too much to be funny. A C.

Foster's story had the the hero/heroine in love for some time but they needed a little push to go at it. That happens when the hero finds out the heroine is a romance writer and writes sexy scenes using him as a character. I found it too cliché with the romance writer angle and there were too many sex scenes and not enough story. A C.

In the Phillips well things just happen too fast for we to believe in them specially as the heroine thought she was kissing the twin brother at first instead of the hero. A C.

Grade: C

  1. A hit then! ;-) Told you it wasn't worth it, if Crusie's name wasn't on the cover I wouldn't have believed she wrote that awful story. :-s
