I'm wondering if I should do an index of reads for this blog. I realised that when I click on the tag "Book Review" it doesn't show all the reviews from the beginning. And clicking on the archives by month doesn't seem too practical.
Is there another way to organise this besides making an external site with links? And would you find and index of reads a useful addition to the site?
Any input is welcomed!!
I have mine on a separate blog. I don't really know if others find it helpful or not but I certainly use it all the time! And I know I use Ro's all the time as well!
ReplyDeleteAnother way to do it is to create a post, and date it well before you blog actually began and then link to it in the sidebar. Saves having another blog or whatever.
I have another blog where I register what I read, no reviews, just a reference and this years' reads I register on my blog but on a separate page (Blogger doesn't allow that). But maybe you can go back and tag the rest of the book reviews here. I know I've searched your blog for reviews and I do the same with Marg's and Ro's. It's always helpful to know what someone else thought! :-)
ReplyDeleteI've tried to see if there's a way of doing some kind of automatic index, but it doesn't look like blogger has that feature. All I found was a fix for the archives, so that you could go to a certain month and see not all the posts one after the other, but a list of the post titles and the first couple of lines. I'll look for it again if you're interested, but it didn't look like it was particularly easy to install.
ReplyDeleteUp to now, what I'm doing is just build the links for each post myself, which doesn't take that much time, really. What I've been meaning to do for a while, though, is change my index from the geocities site (which has that annoying add sidebar) to somewhere else, maybe a page in the blog.
At SF we had a blog like Marg suggested. Just a separate post where we added all the links (by author) as we posted them and then listed it on the sidebar. We haven't done that for BB yet, but we probably will in the future.
ReplyDeleteYou can see what I mean Here
I, too, have searched your blog and others for reviews. I do think it's nice when they're all listed in one place, but it's not a requirement for me.
I wouldn't complain if you did an index, though. :)
Thank you all for your suggestions, I think I like the idea of a blog entry with all the links. I'll put it up as soon as possible!
