Some interesting ones this week. The Woman In White I read a loaned one when I was a teenager, I want to see if it's as good as I remembered...
Charlotte Bronte - Villette
Wilkie Collins - The Woman In White
Patricia Cornwell - Blow Fly
Nicole Galland - The Fool's Tale
Anne Easter Smith - Daughter of York
I can't wait to get Daughter of York myself, and I have looked at the Galland book a few times so I will be interested to hear what you think of it!
ReplyDeleteBlow Fly is the only Patricia cornwell book I have read and I really disliked it!
I'll let you know about the Gulland as soon as I read it.
ReplyDeleteRegarding Blow Fly I read it as a bookring but wanted a copy for my collection. I'm afraid it's a series that is best read in order and the first books are definitely the best. Blow Fly is not only not as good as the first books but also a bad place to start as the story in a continuation of events of previous books. I still buy and read the books (Predator was the last one I read) but the series is definitely loosing it's appeal...but the first ones were so good that I keep hoping she'll get back to that style.
It definitely was a bad place to start in the series! Funnily enough I heard an interview with the author when it first came out which suggested that this book would be a perfect book to start reading the series at...I was like huh! It's turned me off reading any more of the series!
ReplyDeleteTwo other things...I got my copy of Daughter of York today, and I have tagged you for a meme.
That's just weird to say that was a good one to start what was she thinking? That's a middle book and the characters have a lot of background you need to know to understand...
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your opinion of Daughter of York! Going to your blog now ;-)
Errr, umm, haven't actually read it yet! LOL!!
