Key of Knowledge - Nora Roberts

This second book continues the story of three contemporary female friends chosen to free the souls of ancient demigoddesses called the Daughters of Glass. This time, the heroine is Dana Steele, a librarian who is sure that the key she's seeking lies in a book.

As she begins her search, Dana renovates Indulgence, the gallery-cum-salon-cum-bookstore she is opening with her friends Malory Price and Zoe McCourt. She also spends sometimes passionate, sometimes vexing time with Jordan Hawke, the thriller writer who broke her heart years earlier when he abandoned her and their small Pennsylvania town of Pleasant Valley to seek fame in New York. Dana slowly realizes that the love they once felt for each other has not died-and that Jordan's writing is inextricably entwined with her supernatural quest. In the end, Jordan must join with Dana to fight the spells of the sorcerer Kane and fulfill the terms of her quest.

Dana's book appealed to me even more than Malory's story. Because Dana is a librarian and in the course of the story is opening a bookstore (while Malory is opening an art gallery and Zoe a beauty parlour). She owns lots of books, likes the smell of books, can remember quotes from several authors and is always ready to go look up what she doesn't know. I really liked Dana! And her hero, Jordan, is a writer!

Dana and Jordan have a shared past, besides Jordan being friends with Flynn from childhood he and Dana were also lovers till he decided to leave for the big city and left her behind. Dana was badly hurt and now is determined not to go through the same thing again. But, as Flynn was a big part of Malory's quest, so is Jordan a part of Dana's...

So, together, they have to solve their past issues, get over the anger and the misunderstandings so that can go inside the right book and get what they are looking for. And they do!
