Storming the Castle & Stroke of Enticement

Miss Phillipa Damson needs is a good, old fashioned knight in shining armor. What she has is a fiancÉ she never wanted and a compelling urge to run away. But if she manages to escape, will she find her happily ever after?

I really enjoyed Wick in Eloisa James's A Kiss at Midnight and I was really hoping that he would have his own book. Sadly she only gave him a short story lenght to find a HEA but I have to say that it was an enjoyable read.

I particurlaly enjoyed as the heroine is quite different from our usual heroine fare. First she manages to lose her virginity with the wrong guy (this is at the very beginning so not really a spoiler), than she is quite resourseful once she decides to change her life and then she knows just about everything about colicky babies (having recently been subjected to colicky babies myself I would really have enjoyed to have a Philippa next to me). This is really fairy tale land, plenty of implausible situations but oh so pleasant to read.

New York Times bestselling author Lora Leigh and top-selling authors Nalini Singh, Erin McCarthy, and Linda Winstead Jones have a special gift for readers this year: never-before published holiday stories featuring passionate romance, paranormal adventure, and a distinctly alluring feline touch.

I have only read Nalini Singh's entry in this anthology. Stroke of Enticement is a stand alone story set in the Psy Changeling world. It is the story of Zach, a leopard changeling, and Annie, a human. The story focus is mostly on the h/h relationship and we don't get much of the Psy world in this one. It was a sweet story with a damaged heroine who can't quite believe that sexy shifter Zach is interested in her, I really enjoyed seeing Annie bloom under Zach's attention.

  1. Hmm. I missed this EJ short story.

I am glad that you mentioned the Nalini Singh as Mine to Possess is the next book and this one comes before it chronologically but I had forgotten about it.

    1. I don't usually go for short stories as I prefer to have more time with the characters but sometimes I want something quick and I grab one. These two were ok and I have to confess I was very curious about Wick from the previous EJ story.
