This is a Challenge after my own heart, every year in December I read a lot of Christmas books. You can see that when I found this Christmas Reading Challenge I just couldn't resist joining in. And it's in honor of the publication of a Christmas themed book, how could I resist adding it to my WL? Clearly, I couldn't, especially seeing as Dicken's A Christmas Carol - one of my favourite Christmas books in mentioned by the author - and so I did add it and hopefully I'll get it soon.
Now to the rules:
•will run from Thanksgiving Day, November 26 through New Year's Eve, December 31, 2009
•you can choose 1 - 3 books...I know it seems a small amount, but it's a busy time of year and the challenge is only a little over a month.
•These must be Christmas novels, books about Christmas lore or a book of Christmas short stories (sorry, no children's books, but YA novel is okay).
•Be sure to check back here in a couple of days, I will have a list of new Christmas books coming out and some old favorites to recommend.
I'm really excited about this one, I haven't decided which books I'll choose for this challenge but you can see from what I've posted yesterday that I'll have no trouble finding something. And I'm looking forward to see which titles are recommended so I can add them to my WL too. ;-)
Books read for this challenge:
Mary Balogh - Christmas Beau
Anne Perry - A Christmas Guest
Anthology - A Regency Christmas Magic

I am very excited that you will also be in this challenge as well. My favorite type of Christmas novel is a good regency Christmas book. Do you have any recommendations on books you've read in the past? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining my challenge! I hope you enjoy it =o)

Laura, I love Christmas regencies too, give me a couple of days and I'll give you a list.
ReplyDeleteMichelle, thank you for those suggestions. I will definitely add to my list.
Sounds great Ana! I can't wait to see your recommendations!
ReplyDeleteI need to read this Xmas the book I won from you last year :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you like it! :-)
ReplyDeleteI love this challenge! (Must confess I'm not at all thinking about Christmas, even though I know I should at least start. Just not motivated yet.) Anyway, books are a different matter. Cancel Christmas is my first entry in the challenge. Very fun. Who can resist a character (even though he's a baddie) named Oliphant Timber Bleakheart? Tells you everything you need to know about him right there! He wants to run roughshod over Christmas, in the name of profit. Respect for the religious beliefs of others is rarely of importance to those with power, and those with money. It's just a hoot.
ReplyDeleteHmm it seems like I have to add that one to my pile. Thanks for the recommendation!!

◦Chistmas Bride, by Mary Balogh
And some short stories:
*The Best Christmas Ever, by Mary Balogh (A Regency Christmas III

I hope to read quite a few more this Christmas as I've been receiving Christmas books in the mail.
Great list Ana! I'll have to pick one out for my Christmas reads!
