Holly's Cooking Challenge - Week 1, Recipe 2

Last night's dinner was pasta, a recipe that I found on Jamie Oliver's site and that you can find here. The only changes I made was in using macarroni instead of farfalle (because it was what I had at home), using oat cream instead of double cream and adding a few carrots.

We both love pasta so this was a hit! Very good!!

  1. It looks delicious though I wouldn't add the peas as I hate them!

  2. I think you substitute it for something else and it will still taste. Some carrots or brussels sprouts or something like that...

  3. I wouldn't put the peas, also, and the carrot! Two thing I hate. But it looks delicious and it made me hungry! :)

  7. lol okay two of you with veggie problems. I used to dislike them too but now they kind of grew on me. The only things I still don't like are broad beans and beet.

  8. It looks yummy, Ana. What is oat cream, I've never heard of that.
I hated broad beans too - until my mother served me some fresh from her garden and young, with butter melted over them and suddenly I was a broad bean lover! By beet, do you mean beetroot or silverbeet? I love beetroot, especially roasted. Silverbeet I'm still not too keen on. I grow it in my garden to cook for my dog!

  9. hey Dee, oat cream looks like regular cream but it's made from the vegetable. You got me confused with the beets, the one I don't like is this one http://www.agr.state.nc.us/markets/commodit/horticul/sumveg/images/beet_chioggia.jpg

  10. That picture kind of looks like our beetroot, but ours is red all the way through, not with the circle look!

  11. I think we have both kinds here :-)

So that's what you eat roasted?

What's with these girls and vegetables?!LOL

  13. Yep, I chop it in chunks and then toss it in with the other veges I'm roasting (either for a traditional roast, or as a roast vege salad). The other more traditional way to eat it is cooked and sliced with salad (although I buy tinned beetroot when I'm wanting that. Too lazy to cook my own!)
