Roberta Gellis is an old favourite of mine and I'm still in the process of finding and reading her entire backlist. This week I added two more books to my collection.
Anthea Malcolm and Judith Healy are both new to me authors, the former writes traditional regencies and was recommended by a friend and the latter wrote a HF story that sounded interesting.

I'll be interested to see what you think of Desiree - its very different from the rest of the Roselynde books. From what I understand it was written much later and "fitted" in between the first two books.
ReplyDeleteI'm planning to reread them all in preparation for this one. I think I loaned the first two to friends but as soon as they are back I'll start with them.
ReplyDeleteHave you read this one yet?
I know A Silver Mirror wasn't a favourite with you. Your review made me curious though so I hope to start it soon too.
Yep I did read this one and very very glad it came from the library. The only good thing that comes out of it is a glimpse at the marriage of Simon and Alinore, albeit very brief glimpses. There's at least one love scene between the main character that's quite fun though - in a laughable sort of way.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately the libraries here don't carry such books so my only chance at reading them is to order through Amazon or find them at Bookmooch... :-S
ReplyDeleteI have read on Roberta Gellis' homepage that she was not happy with Desire, and reading the book you realize why. It feels very watered down and lacks the epic aspect of the rest of the Roselynde Cronicles which I reread regularly!
ReplyDeleteThe Silver Mirror, on the other hand, is one of my favourite Gellis books. It is very much a historical novel I think, but I LOVE the hero and heroine, and the history is so interesting too.... I will be very interested to see what you think of it! :)
I hope to read them soon and have an opinion to offer.
