One of the best period dramas I've watched lately. It has a great cast, lovely wardrobe and interesting characters. Now I can't wait for season 2 to be aired...
I couldn't quite get into this. I think a bit part of the problem was that it was advertised here as a bodice-ripper, which it transpired not to be. Not that I have a problem with that, it's just that it created an expectation when the reality was quite different. I think it also suffered from all the hype surrounding it. I hadn't seen Upstairs Downstairs before I watched Downtown. The former came on recently and I watched it for the first time. I thought Downtown to be remarkably similar. Still, having said all of that, it brings a lot of people pleasure so good luck to it.

I had heard that there was going to be a Christmas special but I won't watch it until after Season 2, which means I might get to see it until next Christmas.
I started watching this, but then life got in the way. I should get back to it.
