Anne Stuart Read-a-Fest

A. is hosting an "Anne Stuart Read-a-Fest" and since Stuart is one of my favourite authors I couldn't resist joining. The goal is to read as many books written by her as possible from April 15th till October 15th, you can find all the details here.

I have decided to check all her back list and mark the ones I've read (in blue) and try to catch up on the others and write reviews for some that I've read on my pre-blogging days. Here's the bibliography from Anne Stuart's site:

  2. Wow! That's quite a backlist! I have only read Anne Stuart in The Unfortunate Miss Fortunes, and I wasn't really impressed.

  3. Thanks for hosting it A.!

Marg, don't be discouraged, she writes in many different genres and you might find you like some of her books. If you decide to try her again I would love to know your opinion.

  4. Marg, forget you read that one and start all over with Anne Stuart. Ana T. has some great recommendations!;-)

  5. I had no idea she has so many books!

  6. Alex have you chosen a book to start with? You know I'm terribly curious... And wouldn't it be great if Marg would join us?

Fantasma why don't you join us?

  7. LOL Yes, I'm starting with Heat Lightning!;-) I think you read it already... Did you like it?
You're absolutely right, Ana! Marg and Fantasma really should join us. They really, really, really should.:P

  8. I'm afraid that one wasn't a favourite, see here http://anecasworld.blogspot.com/2007/03/heat-lightning-anne-stuart.html

  9. Hmmm, I confess I was expecting a worst grade. A B- is not that bad and eventually I will have to read the less interesting ones as well.;-) But I'm going to follow your suggestion in that review and start with Crazy Like the Fox or reread Blue Sage.
Did you already choose your first book?

  10. Yes, I'm going to start with The Spinster and The Rake. one of her oldies. I was saving it for a special occasion and I think this is it. ;-)

  11. So bearing in mind that I have to read series in order, which books should I start with?

  12. Ok then, her most recent is the Ice series which starts with Black Ice. These are romantic suspense but with very dark heroes. Not dark in the sense of very tortured, which they are too, but dark because of their chosen profession.

In the historicals department my two favourites would be To Love a Dark Lord and Lord of Danger.

Then she has plenty of categories which include fun adventure stories like Wild Thing, a nod to film noirs in The Right Man, a gothic feel in Cry For the Moon and in Crazy for You, scientific experiments in Cinderman... I find that she has really original plot twists and sometimes even when they are completely outrageous and shouldn't work, they do.

I haven't read the one you didn't like to see what kind of story it is but I'm moving it to the top of the pile.

I hope I've given you some ideas LOL

  13. So my library has the following books:

    Prince of Swords
    Cold as Ice
    Ice Blue
    Fire and Ice
    Tangled Lies(on order I think)
    Prince of Magic

Given that they don't have the first book in the Ice series, maybe I will request of the Prince books.

  14. I've read Prince of Swords, pretty dark hero IIRC, but not Prince of Magic. I'll be looking forward to your comments then. ;-)
